अफीम (काला सोना Opium)

अफीम (काला सोना Opium) की खेती मध्यप्रदेश के नीमच, मंदसौर, रतलाम जिलो मे होती है। यह एक अत्यधिक महत्वपूर्ण औषधीय फसल हैं। इसमें लगभग 42 से भी अधिक प्रकार के अल्केलॉइट पाये जाते हैं। जिनमे मुख्य रूप मॉरफीन, कोडीन, थीवेन, नारकोटिन तथा पेपेवरिन अधिक ही महत्वपूर्ण हैं। जिनका उपयोग विभिन्न प्रकार की दवाईयाँ बनाने में होता हैं। अफीम के दानों में लगभग 52% तेल होता हैं। इसे भूमध्य सागरीय क्षेत्र में उगाया जाता है। यह उस स्थान का देशज पौधा माना जाता है। यह समशीतोष्ण जलवायु का पौधा है। इसकी खेती के लिए 20 से 25 डिग्री सेल्सियस की आवश्यकता होती है। इसलिए इसकी सर्वाधिक खेती मंदसौर में की जाती है।

Opium (black gold) is cultivated in the Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Ratlam districts of Madhya Pradesh. It is a highly important medicinal crop. It contains more than 42 types of alkaloids, the most important of which are morphine, codeine, thebaine, narcotine, and papaverine. These are used in the manufacture of various medicines. Opium seeds contain approximately 52% oil. It is cultivated in the Mediterranean region and is considered indigenous to that area. It is a plant of temperate climate, requiring a temperature of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius for cultivation. Therefore, it is most extensively cultivated in Mandsaur.
