हॉकी इंडिया लीग (HIL) की शुरुआत 2013 में हुई थी, जिसका संचालन 'हॉकी इंडिया' द्वारा किया जाता है। यह लीग भारतीय खिलाड़ियों को अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर के लिए तैयार करने का एक प्रमुख मंच है। 2017 में वित्तीय बाधाओं और व्यस्त अंतरराष्ट्रीय कैलेंडर के कारण इसे बंद कर दिया गया था, लेकिन 2024-25 में इसे पुनर्जीवित किया गया। 2025-26 सीज़न में 8 पुरुष टीमें प्रतिस्पर्धा कर रही हैं, जिसके मैच चेन्नई, रांची और भुवनेश्वर में आयोजित किए गए।

The Hockey India League (HIL) was launched in 2013 and is administered by 'Hockey India'. This league serves as a premier platform for preparing Indian players for the international stage. It was discontinued in 2017 due to financial constraints and a busy international calendar, but was revived in 2024–25. In the 2025–26 season, eight men's teams are competing, with matches being held in Chennai, Ranchi, and Bhubaneswar.

उद्देश्य: भारतीय घरेलू और उभरती प्रतिभाओं को अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर का अनुभव प्रदान करना और भारतीय हॉकी को बढ़ावा देना।

Objective: To provide international-level experience to Indian domestic and emerging talents, and to promote Indian hockey.

2013 में आयोजित हॉकी इंडिया लीग (HIL) का उद्घाटन सत्र रांची राइनोज ने जीता, जिसने फाइनल में दिल्ली वेवराइडर्स को 2-1 से हराया। यह टूर्नामेंट 14 जनवरी से 10 फरवरी 2013 तक चला, जिसमें पांच टीमों ने भाग लिया। रांची राइनोज के कप्तान जर्मनी के मोरिट्ज़ फ़र्स्टे थे।

The inaugural season of the Hockey India League (HIL), held in 2013, was won by the Ranchi Rhinos, who defeated the Delhi Waveriders 2–1 in the final. The tournament ran from January 14 to February 10, 2013, with five teams participating. The captain of the Ranchi Rhinos was Germany's Moritz Fürste.

इंडियन लीग  पुरूष हॉकी 2014 इसका दूसरा संस्करण था, जो 25 जनवरी से 23 फरवरी 2014 तक आयोजित किया गया था। इस सीजन में कुल छह टीमों ने भाग लिया, जिसमें नई फ्रेंचाइजी 'कलिंगा लांसर्स' शामिल थी। दिल्ली वेवराइडर्स  ने फाइनल में पंजाब वारियर्स को हराकर पहली बार यह खिताब अपने नाम किया। 

The 2014 edition of the Indian Men's Hockey League was its second season, held from January 25 to February 23, 2014. A total of six teams participated in this season, including the new franchise, 'Kalinga Lancers'. Delhi Waveriders claimed the title for the first time by defeating Punjab Warriors in the final.

2015 में खेली गई हॉकी इंडिया लीग (HIL) का तीसरा सीजन, रांची ने फाइनल में पंजाब वारियर्स  को पेनल्टी शूटआउट में हराकर जीता था. यह टूर्नामेंट 22 जनवरी से 22 फरवरी 2015 तक आयोजित किया गया था. 

Ranchi won the third season of the Hockey India League (HIL), played in 2015, by defeating the Punjab Warriors in the final via a penalty shootout. This tournament was held from January 22 to February 22, 2015.

इंडिया  हॉकी  इंडिया  लीग  2016  (चौथा सीजन) 18 जनवरी से 21 फरवरी 2016 तक आयोजित किया गया था। इस रोमांचक टूर्नामेंट में पंजाब वॉरियर्स ने फाइनल में कलिंगा लांसर्स को 6-1 से हराकर अपना पहला खिताब जीता। यह लीग भारतीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय खिलाड़ियों के लिए एक प्रमुख मंच रही। 

The 2016 Hockey India League (fourth season) was held from January 18 to February 21, 2016. In this thrilling tournament, the Punjab Warriors won their maiden title by defeating the Kalinga Lancers 6–1 in the final. This league served as a prominent platform for both Indian and international players.

कलिंगा लांसर्स ने चंडीगढ़ में आयोजित 2017 हॉकी इंडिया लीग के फाइनल में दबंग मुंबई को 4-1 से हराकर अपना पहला खिताब जीता। यह लीग का 5वां संस्करण था, जो 21 जनवरी से 26 फरवरी 2017 तक चला। ग्लेन टर्नर और मोरिट्ज़ फुस्र्ते संयुक्त रूप से शीर्ष स्कोरर रहे और दबंग मुंबई के फ्लोरियन फुच्स को 'प्लेयर ऑफ द टूर्नामेंट' चुना गया।

The Kalinga Lancers won their maiden title by defeating Dabang Mumbai 4-1 in the final of the 2017 Hockey India League, held in Chandigarh. This was the fifth edition of the league, which ran from January 21 to February 26, 2017. Glenn Turner and Moritz Fürste were the joint top scorers, while Dabang Mumbai's Florian Fuchs was named the 'Player of the Tournament'.

श्राची राढ़ बंगाल टाइगर्स ने रोमांचक फाइनल में हैदराबाद तूफांस को 4-3 से हराकर हॉकी इंडिया लीग (HIL) 2024-25 का पुरुष खिताब जीता, जो सात साल बाद आयोजित हुआ। यह टूर्नामेंट 28 दिसंबर 2024 से 1 फरवरी 2025 तक राउरकेला के बिरसा मुंडा अंतरराष्ट्रीय हॉकी स्टेडियम में खेला गया।

The Ranchi Rhinos Bengal Tigers won the men's title of the Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25—held after a hiatus of seven years—by defeating the Hyderabad Typhoons 4-3 in a thrilling final. The tournament was played from December 28, 2024, to February 1, 2025, at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
