सोन नदी पर बने सोन अभ्यारण में कछुओं की दुर्लभ प्रजातियाँ भी पायी जाती है।

मध्यप्रदेश के सीधी-शहडोल जिले में घड़ियालों के संरक्षण के लिए सोन नदी पर बने सोन अभ्यारण में कछुओं की दुर्लभ प्रजातियाँ भी पायी जाती है। कछुए (Turtles) या कर्म टेस्टडनीज नामक सरी सूपों के जीव वैज्ञानिक गण के सदस्य होते हैं। विश्व में स्थलीय कछुओं और जलीय कछुओं दोनों की कई जातियाँ हैं। हालांकि कई प्रजातियाँ विलुप्त हो चुकी हैं, लेकिन 327 आज भी अस्तित्व में है। सोन नदी में भी कछुओं की दुर्लभ प्रजातियाँ विद्यमान हैं।

The Son Sanctuary, located on the Son River in the Sidhi-Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, is a protected area for gharials (Indian gavials) and is also home to rare species of turtles. Turtles belong to the biological order Testudines, a group of reptiles. There are many species of both terrestrial and aquatic turtles worldwide. Although several species have become extinct, 327 species still exist today. Rare species of turtles are also found in the Son River.
