यह अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आईस हॉकी महासंघ IIHF द्वारा आयोजित किया जाता है इसमें 16 टीमें हिस्सा लेती है जिन्हें 2 ग्रुप में बांटा जाता है

आईस हॉकी में 20-20 मिनट के 3 पीरियड होते है जिसमें ओवर टाइम और शूटआउट का प्रावधान होता है इसमें पुरूष और महिला दोनों संस्करण होते है

1930 का पहला आइस हॉकी विश्व कप शैमॉनिक्स (फ्रांस), वियना (ऑस्ट्रिया) और बर्लिन (जर्मनी) में आयोजित किया गया था, जिसमें टोरंटो सी. सी. एम. (कनाडा) ने स्वर्ण पदक जीता, जर्मनी ने रजत और स्विट्जरलैंड ने कांस्य पदक जीता, यह टूर्नामेंट ओलंपिक से अलग पहली विश्व चैम्पियनशिप थी और इसमें कई यूरोपीय टीमें शामिल थीं.
The first Ice Hockey World Championship in 1930 was held in Chamonix (France), Vienna (Austria), and Berlin (Germany), with Toronto C.C.M. (Canada) winning the gold medal, Germany the silver, and Switzerland the bronze. This tournament was the first world championship held independently of the Olympics and featured several European teams.

The main Ice Hockey World Championship (men's) in 2024 was held in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, from May 10-26. The Czech Republic won the title after 14 years, defeating Switzerland in the final. This was the Czech Republic's 7th title. Sweden won the bronze medal.

पुरूष आईस हॉकी विश्व कप 2025 स्टॉकहोम (स्वीडन) और हेरनिंग (डेनमार्क) में 9-25 मई को हुआ था जिसमें कनाडा , फिनलैंड , स्वीडन, यूएसए, जैसे टीमों ने हिस्सा लिया इस टूर्नामेंट में कुल 16 टीमों ने हिस्सा लिया 2025 में पुरुष आइस हॉकी विश्व कप का विजेता यूनाइटेड स्टेट्स (USA) टीम है, जिसने फाइनल में स्विट्जरलैंड को हराकर 1960 के बाद अपना पहला और कुल तीसरा स्वर्ण पदक जीता।
The 2025 Men's Ice Hockey World Championship was held from May 9-25 in Stockholm (Sweden) and Herning (Denmark), with teams such as Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the USA participating. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament. The winner of the 2025 Men's Ice Hockey World Championship was the United States (USA) team, which defeated Switzerland in the final to win its first gold medal since 1960 and its third overall.
आईस हॉकी में भारत ने 2009 में आबूधावी में IIHF चैलेंज कप में हिस्सा लिया और 8वें स्थान पर रहा। इसके बाद भारतीय खिलाडि़यों के लिए देहरादून में देश की पहली अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आकार की इनडोर सुविधा के रूप में हिमाद्री आईस रिंग खोला गया परंतु इसे 2012 में बंद कर दिया गया।
In ice hockey, India participated in the IIHF Challenge Cup in Abu Dhabi in 2009 and finished in 8th place. Following this, the Himadri Ice Rink was opened in Dehradun as the country's first international-sized indoor facility for Indian players, but it was closed in 2012.
