पहला जूनियर विश्व कप 1979 में खेला गया था यह सिर्फ पुरूषों के लिए आयोजित किया गया था एफआईएच हॉकी पुरूष जूनियर हॉकी विश्व कप में पहले 12 टीमें हुआ करती थी सन् 2001 में इन टीमों को बढ़ाकर 16 टीमें कर दिया गया था जितने भी खिलाड़ी इस प्रतियोगिता में हिस्सा ले रहे होते है उनकी उम्र दिसम्बर में और टूर्नामेंट शुरू होने से पहले 21 वर्ष से कम होना चाहिए इस टूर्नामेंट को सर्वाधिक बार जर्मनी ने जीता है (8 बार) अर्जेंटीना और भारत ने यह खिताब दो-दो बार जीता है भारत ने अपना आखिरी खिताब 2016 में जीता था पाकिस्तान और ऑस्ट्रिलिया ने इस खिताब को एक-एक बार जीता।
The first Junior World Cup was played in 1979 and was held exclusively for men. The FIH Men's Junior Hockey World Cup initially featured 12 teams, which were increased to 16 in 2001. All players participating in this competition must be under 21 years of age in December before the tournament begins. Germany has won this tournament the most times (8 times). Argentina and India have won the title twice each. India won its last title in 2016. Pakistan and Australia have each won the title once.

The Junior Hockey World Cup was held in December 2025 in Tamil Nadu, India. Germany defeated Spain to win the title for a record eighth time. India secured third place. A total of 24 teams participated in the tournament. This was the first time Spain reached the final. India won the bronze medal by defeating Argentina.
