Gondwana System rocks

इन चट्टानों का अध्ययन सर्वप्रथम मध्य प्रदेश (दक्षिण-पूर्व) के प्राचीन गोंड राज्य में किया गया था। इसी आधार पर इन चट्टानों का नाम गोंडवाना रखा गया।

 These rocks were first studied in the ancient Gond kingdom of Madhya Pradesh (southeast). Based on this, these rocks were named Gondwana.

गोंडवाना क्रम की चट्टानें परतदार अवसादी चट्टानें हैं। इनका निर्माण मध्य कार्बोनीफेरस काल से जुरैसिक काल के अन्तिम चरण तक द्रोणी बेसिनों में अवसादों तथा चट्टानों के वृहद निक्षेपण से हुआ है।

 The Gondwana System of rocks is a layered sedimentary rock formed by the extensive deposition of sediments and rocks in basins from the middle Carboniferous to the late Jurassic period.

भूगर्भिक हलचलों के कारण इस क्षेत्र के सघन वन मलबे के रूप में नीचे दब गये, जिनके अवसादीकरण के कारण कोयले का निर्माण हुआ।

 Due to geological movements, the dense forests of this region were buried under debris, the sedimentation of which led to the formation of coal.

मध्य प्रदेश राज्य में गोंडवाना क्रम की चट्टानों में निम्न उपक्रम अथवा अवस्थाएँ पायी जाती हैं-

निचला गोंडवाना क्रम /Lower Gondwana Sequence

•      जबलपुर उपक्रम / Jabalpur Enterprise

निचला गोंडवाना क्रम

 Lower Gondwana Sequence

1.तलचर उपक्रम / Talchar Undertaking

इसका नामकरण ओडिशा के अंगुल जिले में स्थित तलचर के नाम पर किया गया है। यहाँ कोयले के वृहद भण्डार हैं, जो ब्राह्मणी नदी घाटी क्षेत्र में स्थित हैं ।

It is named after Talcher, a town in the Angul district of Odisha, which has large coal reserves in the Brahmani River valley region.

इस उपक्रम के कोयले का विस्तार मध्य प्रदेश के पूर्वी क्षेत्रों में स्थित सिंगरौली, सीधी तथा शहडोल आदि जिलों में पाया जाता है। ये शैलें जीवाश्मयुक्त होती हैं।

ऊपरी गोंडवाना क्रम/ Upper Gondwana Sequence

1.महादेव उपक्रम

महादेव उपक्रम को पचमढ़ी उपक्रम के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। पचमढ़ी, सतपुड़ा श्रेणी में स्थित है। महादेव उपक्रम में कोयले के भण्डार उपस्थित हैं,

जिनका विस्तार छिंदवाडा, नरसिंहपुर तथा सिवनी आदि जिलों में पाया जाता है। इसे दो अवस्थाओं में विभाजित किया गया है- पचमढ़ी तथा मलेरी।

They are spread across districts like Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, and Seoni, etc. It is divided into two regions: Pachmarhi and Maleri.

गोंडवाना क्रम के महादेव उपक्रम में मुख्य रूप से नर्मदा, ताप्ती, सोन, दूधी, हिरन, शेर, हथनी, बरना और शक्कर जैसी नदियाँ पाई जाती हैं। ये नदियाँ क्षेत्र की भौगोलिक विशेषताओं को दर्शाती हैं और कई जिलों से होकर गुजरती हैं।

The Mahadev subregion of the Gondwana System is home to rivers such as the Narmada, Tapti, Son, Dudhi, Hiran, Sher, Hathini, Barna, and Shakkar. These rivers characterize the region's geography and flow through several districts.

2.जबलपुर उपक्रम /Jabalpur Undertaking

इस उपक्रम का विकास मध्य प्रदेश के कटनी तथा जबलपुर के क्षेत्रों में हुआ है। इसकी दो अवस्थाएँ पायी जाती हैं- निचला चौगान तथा ऊपरी जबलपुर। इस उपक्रम में जुरैसिक काल की वनस्पतियों के अवशेष पाये जाते हैं। इस क्षेत्र में लिग्नाइट कोयले के साथ-साथ कांग्लोमेरेट, चूना पत्थर, बलुआ पत्थर तथा शेल आदि के निक्षेप भी पाये जाते हैं।

गोंडवाना क्षेत्र में जबलपुर क्रम की नदियां मुख्य रूप से नर्मदा और उसकी सहायक नदियां हैं, जो जबलपुर शहर और आसपास के क्षेत्रों से होकर बहती हैं। नर्मदा, सोन और जोहिला जैसी नदियां अमरकंटक से निकलती हैं, जबकि वैनगंगा गोंडवाना क्षेत्र से निकलकर महाराष्ट्र में गोदावरी नदी में मिल जाती है। जबलपुर में नर्मदा नदी पर बरगी बांध और धुआंधार जलप्रपात जैसी महत्वपूर्ण संरचनाएं हैं।

This system has developed in the Katni and Jabalpur regions of Madhya Pradesh. It has two phases: Lower Chaugan and Upper Jabalpur. Remains of Jurassic vegetation are found in this system. Along with lignite coal, deposits of conglomerate, limestone, sandstone, and shale are also found in this region.

The Jabalpur system of rivers in the Gondwana region primarily consists of the Narmada and its tributaries, which flow through the city of Jabalpur and surrounding areas. Rivers like the Narmada, Son, and Johila originate in Amarkantak, while the Wainganga originates in the Gondwana region and joins the Godavari River in Maharashtra. Important structures on the Narmada River in Jabalpur include the Bargi Dam and the Dhuandhar Falls.
