Jainism - Jainism was founded in India. Its founder was Tirthadev of Tirtha who is also known as Adinath. However, the 24th and last Tirthankara of Jainism, Mahavir Swami is considered to be the real founder of Jainism. Mahavir Swami was born in Kundalpur (Vaishali) in Bihar. Mahavir Swami's father's name was Siddhartha and mother's name was Rani Trishala. Mahavir Swami is believed to have been born in 599 BC. Jainism is prevalent since the time of Rigveda. There have been 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism who are considered conquerors or knowledgeable. The main religious book of Jainism is in Agam which is also called Agamsutra. It is a collection of teachings of Lord Mahavir Swami, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. Agama is mainly written in Prakrit language and is divided into 12 Angas, 12 Upangas, 10 Prakinas, 6 Chhedasutras, 4 Moolasutras and 2 Chulika Sutras. The number of people following Jainism in the world is 0.09 percent and in India 0.4 percent. Jainism is one of the oldest religions of India and emphasizes on non-violence, truth, and austerity.
