इंदौर रानी अहिल्या बाई होल्कर के राज्य में इस शहर को 15 बनी और निर्माण हुआ । इस शहर का नाम 18वीं सदी के इन्देश्वा नाम से पड़ा । यह शहर सरस्वती और कान्ह (खान) नदी के किनारे इंदौर को म.प्र. का दिल कहा जाता है।
