हिन्दी के सुप्रसिद्ध कहानीकार, माधवराव सप्रे का जन्म वर्ष 1971 में दमोह जिले के पथरिया ग्राम में हुआ था। छत्तीसगढ़ मित्र मासिक पत्रिका और लोकमान्य तिलक के मराठी भाषा के केसरी पत्र का हिन्दी भाषा के रूप में प्रकाशन किया। इनकी प्रसिद्ध कहानी एक टोकरी भर मिट्टी को मध्यप्रदेश में हिन्दी की प्रथम कहानी माना जाता है।
Madhavrao Sapre, a renowned Hindi short story writer, was born in 1871 in Patharia village of Damoh district. He published the Chhattisgarh Mitra monthly magazine and the Hindi version of Lokmanya Tilak's Marathi newspaper, Kesari. His famous story, "Ek Tokri Bhar Mitti" (A Basketful of Earth), is considered the first Hindi short story from Madhya Pradesh.
