1987 के दक्षिण एशियाई खेल (आधिकारिक तौर पर तीसरे दक्षिण एशियाई महासंघ खेल) 20 से 27 नवंबर 1987 तक कोलकाता, भारत में आयोजित किए गए थे। यह पहली बार था जब भारत ने इन खेलों की मेजबानी की थी। इसमें सात देशों के खिलाड़ियों ने 10 अलग-अलग खेल विधाओं में प्रतिस्पर्धा की। उद्घाटन समारोह में राष्ट्रपति आर. वेंकटरमन शामिल हुए, मशाल मिल्खा सिंह ने उठाई और लेस्ली क्लॉडियस ने इसे प्रज्वलित किया।

The 1987 South Asian Games (officially the 3rd South Asian Federation Games) were held in Kolkata, India, from November 20 to 27, 1987. This marked the first time that India hosted these Games. Athletes from seven countries competed across 10 different sporting disciplines. President R. Venkataraman attended the opening ceremony; Milkha Singh carried the torch, and Leslie Claudius lit it.

प्रसिद्ध धावक मिल्खा सिंह मशाल लेकर चले, जबकि लेस्ली क्लॉडियस ने मशाल प्रज्वलित की।

Renowned runner Milkha Singh carried the torch, while Leslie Claudius lit it.

प्रतिभागीः सात दक्षिण एशियाई देशों ने भाग लिया।

Participants: Seven South Asian countries participated.

खेल विधाएं: कुल 10 खेल आयोजित किए गए थे, जिनमें एथलेटिक्स, बास्केटबॉल, मुक्केबाजी, फुटबॉल, कबड्डी, तैराकी, टेबल टेनिस, वॉलीबॉल, भारोत्तोलन और कुश्ती शामिल थे।

Sports Disciplines: A total of 10 sports events were organized, including athletics, basketball, boxing, football, kabaddi, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling.

प्रमुख खेल परिणामः फुटबॉल के फाइनल में भारत ने नेपाल को 1-0 से हराकर अपना दूसरा खिताब जीता और सफलतापूर्वक अपने खिताब का बचाव करने वाली पहली टीम बनी।

Major Sports Results: In the football final, India defeated Nepal 1–0 to win their second title, becoming the first team to successfully defend their title.

पदक तालिकाः भारत पदक तालिका में शीर्ष पर रहा और उसने कुल पदकों का लगभग 43% हिस्सा हासिल किया।

Medal Tally: India topped the medal tally, securing approximately 43% of the total medals.

यह कोलकाता और पश्चिम बंगाल में आयोजित अब तक का सबसे बड़ा खेल आयोजन था।

This was the largest sporting event ever held in Kolkata and West Bengal.
