1. The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Central Sector Scheme named "National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme (NFIES)" with a total financial outlay of Rs. 2254.43 crore, covering the period from 2024-25 to 2028-29. This ambitious initiative, led by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to strengthen India's forensic capabilities by focusing on upgrading infrastructure and enhancing human resources.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light to the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, paving the way for the development of offshore wind energy projects in India. The 112th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) convened in Geneva from 3-14 June 2024, bringing together a diverse gathering of over 4,900 delegates from Governments, Employers' organizations, and Workers' organizations. The next edition, the 113th ILC, is slated to take place in June 2025.

Ahead of the 3rd edition of World Food India, a significant milestone was achieved with the launch of the event's website and mobile application by Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Shri Chirag Paswan, and Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Railways, Shri Ravneet Singh, marking a crucial step towards World Food India 2024.

In a significant move, the Union Cabinet has greenlit a comprehensive package of economic initiatives worth over ₹2.88 lakh crore, featuring a slew of measures designed to stimulate growth across various sectors. Key highlights of this far-reaching package include a hike in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops, the expansion of Varanasi airport, and the development of a new major port at Vadhavan. This landmark decision, announced during the inaugural Cabinet meeting following the allocation of portfolios to Union Ministers in the Modi government's third term, is poised to have a profound impact on the economy.
6. In a major stride towards achieving self-sufficiency, the Indian Army's Northern Command has placed an order for 550 ASMI submachine guns, valued at Rs 4.26 crores, with Hyderabad-based Lokesh Machine Limited. Notably, these weapons are entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in India, marking a historic milestone as the first indigenously produced firearm to be inducted into the Indian Army's arsenal.
7. In a landmark decision, the United Nations General Assembly acknowledged sickle cell disease as a significant public health concern in December 2008, subsequently declaring June 19 as World Sickle Cell Day. This annual observance seeks to elevate awareness about the disease, facilitate timely diagnosis, and foster the adoption of preventive strategies to alleviate the suffering of affected individuals.
