Exam Rewards presents you with daily current affairs updates that are invaluable for all your exam preparations. Today’s highlights include:

1.  In recent years, India's domestic aviation industry has experienced remarkable growth, catapulting it to become the world's third-largest market for domestic air travel by April 2024. This significant leap from its fifth position a decade ago can be attributed to the country's robust economic expansion and strategic initiatives implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

2. Tajikistan's upper house of parliament, the Majlisi Milli, approved a controversial law on June 19, effectively banning "non-traditional" clothing, which is widely seen as targeting the hijab and other Islamic attire. The lower chamber, the Majlisi Namoyandagon, had previously passed the bill on May 8. This development has ignited a heated discussion among the predominantly Muslim population of Tajikistan, a tightly controlled former Soviet republic.

3. Rear Admiral Nelson D'Souza has assumed the role of Commandant at the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT) in Pune, succeeding Air Vice Marshal Vivek Blouria. A distinguished graduate of the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and the Naval War College in Goa, Rear Admiral D'Souza brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having served in various critical capacities within the Indian Navy since his commissioning in March 1991.

4. In the 2023-24 financial year, the government successfully monetized assets valued at ₹1.56 lakh crore as part of the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP), falling slightly short of its ambitious target of ₹1.8 lakh crore. Notably, this achievement represents a significant 159% increase compared to the progress made in 2021-22. The NMP is a strategic initiative aimed at unlocking the hidden value of existing brownfield infrastructure assets, with an estimated total monetisation potential of ₹6 lakh crore over a four-year period spanning from FY22 to FY25.

5. Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB), a regional rural bank sponsored by Canara Bank, has received a prestigious national award from the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) in recognition of its outstanding performance in enrolling subscribers under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) scheme.

6.  The Hemis Festival, a vibrant celebration of Tibetan Buddhism, is an annual event held in Ladakh, India. This significant cultural occasion is a perfect blend of history, culture, spirituality, entertainment, and enthusiasm, creating a magical aura that is hard to resist.. The festival commemorates the birthday of Lord Padmasambhava, a spiritual leader who introduced Buddhism in the Himalayan kingdom and is revered as an incarnation of Lord Buddha himself. The celebrations take place over two days in the month of June, usually around the 10th day of the Tibetan Lunar calendar.

7. The global community comes together every year on June 21st to mark World Hydrography Day, an initiative led by the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO). This significant occasion is dedicated to promoting awareness about the vital importance of hydrography in helping us better understand and navigate our planet's vast seas and oceans.
