1. Uttar Pradesh is poised to launch a groundbreaking initiative with the establishment of the world's first dedicated conservation and breeding hub for the critically endangered Asian king vulture, also known as the red-headed vulture, in Maharajganj. This state-of-the-art facility, aptly named the Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Centre, aims to bolster the dwindling population of this majestic species, which has been listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) red list since 2007

3. Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia, a bronze medalist at the Olympics, has been handed a suspension by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for the second time, this time for allegedly declining to provide a urine sample during the selection trials. Notably, this suspension comes on the heels of NADA's earlier decision to lift a previous ban imposed on Punia due to procedural irregularities. Punia's legal representatives are gearing up to contest the suspension, citing that their client did not refuse to comply with the testing protocol, but rather sought clarification on the use of expired testing kits in previous instances
4. On June 22, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah launched the 'Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme' at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The event was attended by the Union Home Secretary and other esteemed dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in streamlining the immigration process for trusted travellers.

A recent report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) reveals that India witnessed a significant 43% slump in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2023, compared to the previous year. This decline has resulted in India slipping to the 15th position among the world's top FDI recipients. The trend is reflective of a broader global pattern, where overall FDI inflows decreased by 2%
6. In response to the recent scandals surrounding the NEET and UGC-NET exams, the Central government has enacted a robust law to combat paper leaks in competitive examinations. Effective from June 21, 2024, this legislation introduces harsh penalties, including imprisonment of up to 10 years and a hefty fine of Rs 1 crore, to deter individuals from engaging in malpractices that undermine the integrity of these exams.
7. During a high-level meeting between Indian and Bangladeshi delegations in the national capital on June 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant announcement. In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and facilitate medical tourism, India will introduce an e-medical visa facility specifically for Bangladeshi citizens seeking medical treatment in India. Furthermore, to enhance consular services for the people of northwest Bangladesh, India has plans to establish a new consulate in Rangpur, Bangladesh.
