·         ·       South Korea has officially inaugurated the Korea   AeroSpace Administration (KASA) to spearhead policy and industrial advancements in the aerospace sector. This initiative was enabled by a special law passed by the national assembly in January, consolidating various government bodies responsible for space policy and projects. The newly formed agency is headquartered in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, and operates with an annual budget of 758.9 billion won ($556 million). 

 

·       The Maldives has prohibited visitors with Israeli passports from entering the country due to increasing public outrage over the ongoing conflict in Gaza. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, acting on a Cabinet recommendation, has decided to enforce this ban, though specific details were not disclosed. Additionally, the president's office announced that the Cabinet will amend relevant laws to enforce this restriction and will form a subcommittee to manage these initiatives.

 

·         India began their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a match against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday.

 

·       At the prestigious New York Indian Film Festival 2024, Sanya Malhotra earned the Best Actress award for her outstanding performance in the film “Mrs.” This achievement is a significant milestone in Malhotra’s growing career, highlighting her exceptional talent as an actress.

 

·       In a notable development, the Centre has appointed Sushil Kumar Singh, an officer from the 1993 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME), as the Chairman of Deendayal Port Trust in Kandla, Gujarat. Deendayal Port Trust, one of the largest state-owned ports in India, will be under Singh’s leadership until his retirement in January 2027. 

 

·         Volvo Cars has announced the launch of the world's first EV battery passport for its upcoming flagship EX90 SUV, ahead of EU regulations. This passport provides detailed information on the origin of raw materials, components, recycled content, and carbon footprint. Volvo owners can access a simplified version of this passport via a QR code located inside the driver’s door.

 

·         The International Health Regulations of 2005 are amended by the 77th World Health Assembly, taking into account 300 recommendations from member states. The purpose of amendments is to strengthen nations’ capacity to anticipate and address pandemic and public health emergencies of global concern. They contain measures to support developing nations in creating, bolstering, and preserving the fundamental capacities mandated by the IHR, as well as measures to enable fair access to pertinent health items during medical emergencies.
