·     The merger of Air India and Vistara has received approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), marking a major milestone in the creation of one of the world’s largest airline conglomerates. Initially announced in November 2022, this merger entails Singapore Airlines holding a 25.1% stake in Air India. The completion of this merger is anticipated by the year's end.

 

·       In the 9th ICC T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team, under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma, commenced their campaign with an impressive 8-wicket triumph against Ireland. This match, held at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, USA, witnessed a stellar bowling display by Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed 2 wickets for just 6 runs, earning him the prestigious 'Man of the Match' accolade.

 

·         Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are at the forefront, with a combined total of 1.16 lakh farmers voluntarily opting out of the benefits offered by the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme across the nation from June 2023 to May 2024. The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare had introduced a module on the PM-Kisan mobile app and website, allowing farmers to voluntarily withdraw from the scheme.

 

·       In a significant step toward enhancing financial inclusion, Muthoot Microfin Limited has forged a strategic co-lending alliance with the State Bank of India (SBI). This partnership is aimed at expanding financial services to female entrepreneurs in rural and semi-urban areas throughout India. Under this collaboration, both organizations will jointly lend to Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) involved in agricultural, allied activities, and various income-generating ventures. The loan amounts, ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 3,00,000, are designed to offer significant assistance to women entrepreneurs in rural locales.

 

·       Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is embarking on the development of a global economic hub in Navi Mumbai, having acquired sub-leases covering around 3,750 acres of land for Rs 13,400 crore. The lease agreement, spanning 43 years, originates from a memorandum of understanding inked with the Maharashtra government back in 2018.
