Three Categories of Directive Principles of State Policy
There are three categories of Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP):
1. SOCIALIST PRINCIPLES
2. GANDHIAN PRINCIPLES
3. LIBERAL AND INTELLECTUAL PRINCIPLES
1. Socialist Principles - Under this, the state will promote public welfare (Article 38), provide free legal aid (Article 39A), fix minimum wages (Article 43) etc. DPSP comes under this.
2. Gandhian Principles - Will constitute Gram Panchayat (Article 40), will promote cottage industries (Article 43), the state will prohibit intoxicating drugs (Article 47) etc.
3. Liberal-Intellectual Principles - This includes Uniform Civil Code (Article 44), Protection of Environment (48A), Separation of Judiciary from Executive (Article 50), Promotion of International Peace (Article 51) etc.
