मध्यप्रदेश में 77, 414 वर्ग किमी. क्षेत्र पर वनों का विस्तार है, वन क्षेत्रफल की दृष्टि से यह देश में प्रथम स्थान पर है। विस्तृत एवं समृद्ध वन संसाधनों के आर्थिक दोहन के लिए राज्य में वनों पर आधारित विभिन्न उद्योगों का विकास किया गया है, जैसे-कागज बीड़ी, कत्था, लकड़ी प्लाईवुड आदि।

Madhya Pradesh, with its 77,414 square kilometer forest cover, ranks first in the country in terms of forest area. To economically exploit the vast and rich forest resources, various forest-based industries have been developed in the state, such as paper, bidis, catechu, and plywood.

कागज उत्पादन के लिए राज्य में सर्वप्रथम वर्ष 1956 में नेपानगर (बुरहानपुर) में नेशनल न्यूज प्रिंटर पेपर मिल की स्थापना की गई थी। इसके अतिरिक्त, निजी क्षेत्र की कंपनी बिड़ला द्वारा अमलाई (अनूपपुर) मैं ओरिएंट पेपर मिल की स्थापना की गई है। वर्तमान में राज्य में कागज निर्माण के 9 कारखाने स्थित है।

The state's first paper-producing factory, the National News Printers Paper Mill, was established in Nepanagar (Burhanpur) in 1956. Additionally, the private sector company Birla established the Orient Paper Mill in Amalai (Anuppur). Currently, there are nine paper-manufacturing factories in the state.

वर्ष 1968 में होशंगाबाद में सिक्योरिटी पेपर मिल की स्थापना हुई जहां पर स्टाम्प पेपर तथा नोट बनाने वाले कागज का उत्पादन किया जाता है। इसके अतिरिक्त यहां पर वर्ष 2015 में सिक्योरिटी प्रिंटिंग नोट प्रेस की स्थापना की गई।

The Security Paper Mill, which produces stamp paper and note paper, was established in Hoshangabad in 1968. Additionally, the Security Printing Note Press was established here in 2015.

बैंक नोट प्रेस की स्थापना वर्षा 1974 में देवास में की गई, जहां 5,10,20, 50, 100 कथा 2500 के नोट छापे जाते हैं।

Bank Note Press was established in the year 1974 in Dewas, where notes of Rs 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 2500 are printed.

टिशू पेपर का कारखाना डॉ. अंबेडकर नगर नगर (महू, इंदौर) में स्थित है।

The tissue paper factory is located in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar town (Mhow, Indore).

बीड़ी उ‌द्योग

 Beedi industry

भारत में बीड़ी उद्योग में प्रयुक्त होने वाले तेंदू पत्ते का 60% उत्पादन मध्य प्रदेश में होता है। में होता है। जबलपुर, सागर कटनी दमोह, सतना आदि के प्रमुख क्षेत्र हैं। राज्य में लगभग 280 बीड़ी कारखाने स्थापित है।

Madhya Pradesh produces 60% of the tendu leaves used in the bidi industry in India. The major areas are Jabalpur, Sagar, Katni, Damoh, and Satna. There are approximately 280 bidi factories in the state.

कत्था उ‌द्योग

 Catechu industry

कत्था एक उपयोगी वनोत्पाद है। राज्य के शिवपुरी तथा बानमोर (मुरैना) में कत्था निर्माण के सरकारी कारखाने स्थापित किए गए हैं।

Catechu is a useful forest product. Government factories for catechu manufacturing have been established in Shivpuri and Banmor (Morena) in the state.

लाख उ‌‌द्योग

 lacquer industry

लाख एक प्राकृतिक रेजिन (राल) है, जो केरिया लेक्का नामक कीट द्वारा स्त्रावित किया जाता है। यह बबूल, कुसुम आदि वृक्षों की पत्तियों पर पाला जाता है।

 Lac is a natural resin secreted by an insect called Kerria lecca. It is grown on the leaves of trees such as acacia, safflower, and others.

लाख का उपयोग चूडी, खिलौने, स्याही तथा पोलिश के निर्माण में तथा स्थायी मोहर (ठप्पा) लगाने में किया जाता है। मध्यप्रदेश के उमरिया जिले में लाख का सरकारी कारखाना स्थापित किया गया है।

Lac is used in the manufacture of bangles, toys, ink, polish, and for permanent stamping. A government lacquer factory has been established in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh.

लकड़ी उ‌द्योग

 Timber industry

मध्य प्रदेश की समृद्ध वन संपदा में साल एवं सागौन जैसी बहुमूल्य लकड़ी पायी जाती है।

 Precious wood like Sal and Teak is found in the rich forest wealth of Madhya Pradesh.

राज्य में लकड़ी चौरने का सबसे बड़ा कारखाना केंद्र सरकार की सहायता से मनेरी (मंडला) में स्थापित किया गया है। इसके अतिरिक्त लकड़ी चिराई चिराई इसके अतिरिक्त लकड़ी चिराई उद्योग का प्रमुख केंद्र जबलपुर है।

The largest wood sawing factory in the state has been established in Maneri (Mandla) with central government assistance. Jabalpur is also a major center for the wood sawing industry.

प्लाईवुड उ‌द्योग

मध्य प्रदेश के इटारसी वर्ष 1964 में प्रथम प्लाईवुड कारखाना तथा वर्ष 1979 में नर्मदा वुड नामक कारखाना स्थापित किया गया।

The first plywood factory was established in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh in the year 1964 and a factory named Narmada Wood was established in the year 1979.

छिंदवाड़ा एवं कौसमी (बैतूल) में प्लाईवुड तथा नक्काशीदार लकड़ी कारखाना स्थित है।
