एमएस-डॉस (MS-DOS)

डॉस का पूर्ण रूप डिस्‍क ऑपरेटिंग सिस्‍टम है इसका विकास माइक्रोसॉफ्ट द्वाराा माइक्रो कम्‍प्‍यूटर के लिए किया गया था। इसे कम्‍प्‍यूटर की मुख्‍य मैमोरी में एक डिस्‍क का प्रयोग कर लोड किया जा सकता है।

DOS stands for Disk Operating System. It was developed by Microsoft for microcomputers. It could be loaded into the computer's main memory using a disk.

यह सिंगल यूजर ऑपरेटिंग सिस्‍टम है। It is a single user operating system.

इसमें एक कैरेक्‍टर यूजर इण्‍टरफेस होता है। It has a character user interface.

MS-DOS में फाइल के संचालन हेतु सभी प्रकार के कमाण्‍ड होते है। MS-DOS has all types of commands for operating files.

डॉस की विशेषताएं- Features of DOS-

यह केस सेन्सिटिव नहीं होता It is not case sensitive

फाइलों के नाम 8 कैरेक्‍टर से अधिक के नहीं हो सकते। File names cannot exceed 8 characters.

फाइलों के नाम के बीच स्‍पेस (खाली स्‍थान) नहीं दिया जा सकता। File names cannot be separated by spaces.

डॉस में फाइल का नामकरण- File naming in DOS

फाइल तार्किक रूप से सम्‍बद्ध सूचनाओं का एक संग्रह होता है डॉस में फाइलों के नाम के दो भाग होते है।

A file is a collection of logically related information. In DOS, file names have two parts.

प्राथमिक नाम Primary name

द्वितीय नाम second name

प्राथमिक नाम- यह एक से लेकर आठ (1-8) कैरेक्‍टर तक का हो सकता है।

Primary Name - This can be from one to eight (1-8) characters long.

द्वितीयक नाम- यह तीन केरेक्‍टर तक का हो सकता है इसे फाइल एक्‍सेटेंशन कहते है प्राथमिक नाम और द्वितीयक नाम (एक्‍सटेंशन) को डॉट द्वारा अलग किया गया है।

 Secondary name – This can be up to three characters long. It is called file extension. The primary name and secondary name (extension) are separated by a dot.
