देश में जलसंकट से उबरने के लिये जल संचय आवश्यक है। वर्षा जल को संचय करना आज अति आवश्यक हो गया है। इसी को ध्यान में रखते हुए म.प्र. सरकार ने 140 वर्ग मीटर या उससे अधिक क्षेत्रफल पर निर्मित होने वाले सभी भवनों में रेन वाटर हारर्वेस्टिंग को अनिवार्य कर दिया है। साथ ही शहरी छत जल संचयन के लिए जय मित्रा योजना भी लागू की गयी है।
