1919 – Satyagraha Against the Rowlatt Act and Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
· The Rowlatt Act, passed in 1919, was a repressive law also known as the black law. It gave the government the authority to arrest and detain any person without trial. Mahatma Gandhi launched a satyagraha against this act. On 13 April 1919, to suppress this movement, the British army opened fire at Jallianwala Bagh.
