·      On 15 August 2023, India celebrated its 77th Independence Day. This year's theme was Nation First, Always First'.

·      The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti released the Sixth Census Report on Micro Irrigation Schemes. As per this report, there are 21.93 million (94.8%) ground water (GW) and 1.21 million (5.2%) surface water (SW) schemes.

·      Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal launched Tele Law - 2.0 integrating Tele-Law and Nyay Bandhu App to ensure access to justice on August 25, 2023. This will enable common citizens to access legal advice, legal aid and legal representation through a single registration and a single gateway to tele-law.

·      According to the report titled State of India's Birds', 40 per cent decline recorded in 359 species during the last seven years. Changes in the population of 338 species of birds were studied in India in the last 30 years, out of which 60 percent of the species showed a decline.

·      The Pune-based College of Military Engineering (CME) has recently become India's first carbon-negative garrison through the implementation of a 5-MW solar power plant.

·      Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the first indigenous e-tractor 'CSIR PRIMA ET11' developed by the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur.

·      The National Health Authority launched the first Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) microsite in the Aizawl under the Microsites' initiative.

·      In the Clean Air Survey-2023 released by the Central Pollution Control Board, Indore has secured the top position in the category of cities with a population of more than 1 million.
 

·      Under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Union Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala unveiled the 'A-HELP' (Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production) program along with infertility camps in Gujarat.

·      On August 9, the Kerala Assembly unanimously passed a resolution urging the central government to officially change the name of the state from Kerala to 'Keralam'.

·      Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has launched a centralized web portal UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits - Gateway of Access to Information). It aims to help people to find their unclaimed deposits or accounts in various banks.

·      Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the 9th Indian Region Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Udaipur.

·      Recently the cabinet has approved 'PM e-Bus Sewa' to augment city bus operations by procuring 10,000 e-buses on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

·      Goa has become the first Indian state to introduce free In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Intra Uterine Insemination (lUI) at Goa Medical College (GMC) .

·      'FloodWatch' Mobile App - Central Water Commission.its Objective  is to To provide information and forecast of flood situation in real time upto 7 days to the people in flood affected areas.

·      Tamil Nadu Government and Racing Promotions Pvt Ltd (RPPL) launched the 3.5 km Night Street Circuit in Chennai. On which night race will also be organized. It will become the first street circuit in India and South Asia to host a night race.

·      On the occasion of India's 77th Independence Day, the Indian Army inaugurated the "Bhagat Bridge" at Danna village, the last village on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. This 115 feet long bridge has been named Bhagat Bridge in the memory of Vir Chakra winner Major Bhagat Singh.

·      Miss World 2023 (71st edition) will be held on 8 December 2023 at Kashmir International Convention Center in Srinagar, India.

·      Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Shri Giriraj Singh launched the annual capacity building plan at a function in New Delhi. This plan is a comprehensive strategic document and has been prepared to assist in skill development and improvement of people.

·      Mr. Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology inaugurated the 'Graphene Aurora Program' at Maker Village Kochi, Kerala. The program aims to promote innovation and commercialization of graphene technologies.
