1.  Mission Karmayogi is a major reform initiative introduced by the Government of India to transform the Indian civil services. Launched in 2020, the mission aims to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of civil servants. Its goal is to develop a capable and future-ready civil service that can better respond to the needs of citizens.

 

2. Tata Communications has secured a major five-year contract with World Athletics to deliver broadcasting services, improving the global reach of top events beginning with the Tokyo World Championships. This collaboration establishes Tata Communications as a key provider, dedicated to innovation and enhancing audience engagement.

 

3. In a groundbreaking feat, Shruti Vora has become the first Indian equestrian to claim victory in a prestigious three-star Grand Prix event. Riding Magnanimous, Vora secured a remarkable win at the CDI-3 competition held in Lipica, Slovenia, from June 7-9. With an impressive score of 67.761 points, Vora outperformed her competitors, including Moldova's Tatiana Antonenco, who finished second with 66.522 points, and Austria's Juliane Jerich, who took third place with a score of 66.087 points.

 

4. The Indian classical music community is in mourning following the passing of the legendary Sarod virtuoso, Pandit Rajeev Taranath, who left us on June 11, 2024, at the remarkable age of 91. The esteemed musician, who had been receiving medical attention at a private hospital in Mysuru for a fracture, sadly succumbed to his condition around 6:30 PM, leaving behind a legacy of unparalleled musical excellence.

 

5. The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has imposed a fine of over Rs 1.66 crore on Axis Bank for failing to establish sufficient protocols to detect and report suspicious transactions. This penalty arises from an incident where an Axis Bank employee allegedly conspired to set up a fake account under the name of the National Security Guard (NSG), thereby enabling illegal financial operations.

 

6. Former IAS officer P.K. Mishra has been reappointed as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Dr. P.K. Mishra’s appointment, effective June 10, 2024. His tenure will align with the Prime Minister's term or until further notice, whichever comes first.

 

7. In a significant development for the agricultural sector, Jammu & Kashmir expanded its existing Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with New Zealand into a comprehensive strategic agreement on June 12. This partnership leverages New Zealand’s renowned expertise in breeding technology, sustainable farm management, and advanced disease control within the sheep industry. The collaboration aims to transform and rejuvenate the sheep and goat sectors in the Union Territory through extensive training programs and the implementation of innovative and sustainable practices.
