यह उत्‍तरी ध्रुव के चारों और स्थित है और सबसे छोटा और उथला महासागर है जो अलास्‍का कनाड़ा, ग्रीनलैंड और रूस से घिरा है इसका क्षेत्रफल 14 मिलियन वर्ग किमी है यह दुनिया का सबसे ठंडा महासागर है इसका एक बड़ा हिस्‍सा साल भर जमी हुई वर्फ से ठका रहता है इसकी औसत गहराई लगभग 1,000 मीटर है जबकि कुछ हिस्‍सों में यह 5,000 मीटर गहरा है।

 It is situated around the North Pole and is the smallest and shallowest ocean which is surrounded by Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Russia. Its area is 14 million square km. It is the coldest ocean in the world. A large part of it remains covered with frozen ice throughout the year. Its average depth is about 1,000 meters while in some parts it is 5,000 meters deep.

आर्कटिक महासागर का सबसे गहरा गृह ‘’मोलॉय डीप’’ है जो फ्रैम स्‍टेट में स्थित है लगभग 5,500 मीटर (18210 फीट) की गहराई पर है मोलाय डीप का नाम आर्थ ई. मोलाय के नाम पर रखा गया है।

The deepest hole in the Arctic Ocean is the Molloy Deep, located in the Fram Strait, at a depth of approximately 5,500 metres (18,210 ft). Molloy Deep is named after Arthur E. Molloy.
