क्षेत्रफल की दृष्टि से हिन्द महासागर तीसरा सबसे बड़ा महासागर है जो एशिया, अफ्रीका और आस्ट्रेलिया को घेरता है।
The Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean by area, surrounding Asia, Africa and Australia.
हिन्द महासागर का क्षेत्रफल 7.39 करोड़ वर्ग किमी है इसकी औसत गहराई 4000 मीटर है इसका नाम भारत के नाम पर पड़ा है जो इसकी उत्तर दशिा में स्थित है यह अटलाटिंग महासागर और प्रशांत महासागर से जुड़ा हुआ है।
The Indian Ocean covers an area of 73.9 million square kilometers and has an average depth of 4,000 meters. It is named after India, located to its north. It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
इसमें मेडागास्कर, श्रीलंका, अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह जैसे द्वीप है।
It includes islands like Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
इसे एक युवा महासागर माना जाता है जिसने लगभग 3.6 करोड़ पहले अपना वर्तमान रूप लिया था। यह दुनिया का 33 प्रतिशत आबादी को प्रभावित करता है।
It is considered a young ocean, having taken its current form about 36 million years ago. It affects 33 percent of the world's population.

It includes the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Andaman Sea. The water of the world's two largest rivers, the Brahmaputra and the Ganga, is discharged into this ocean.
