Finance Commission
22 नवंबर 1951 में स्थापना की गई भारतीय संविधान के अनुच्छेद 280 में इसका वर्णन मिलता है जो भारत की केन्द्र सरकार और व्यक्तिगत राज्य सरकारों के बीच वित्तीय संबंधों को परिभाषित करती है वित्त आयोग का गठन राष्ट्रपति द्वारा किया जाता है वित्त आयोग में एक अध्यक्ष और 4 सदस्य होते है वित्त आयोग का गठन हर 5 साल के लिए किया जाता है।
It is described in Article 280 of the Indian Constitution, established on 22 November 1951, which defines the financial relations between the Union Government of India and the individual state governments. The Finance Commission is constituted by the President. The Finance Commission consists of a Chairman and 4 members. The Finance Commission is constituted for every 5 years.
वित्त आयोग के प्रमुख कार्य-
Main functions of the Finance Commission-
1. संघ और राज्यों के बीच करों की शुद्ध आय का विवरण तथा ऐसी आय का अपने -अपने हिस्सों का राज्यों के बीच आबंटन ।
Statement of the net proceeds of taxes between the Union and the States and the allocation among the States of their respective shares of such proceeds.
2. वह सिद्धांत जो भारत के राजस्व में से राज्यों को सहायता अनुदान को नियत्रिंत करेंगे।
The principles which will govern grants-in-aid to the States out of the revenues of India.
3. संघ तथा किसी राज्य के साथ प्रथम अनुसूचि के भाग 3 में तत्समय विनिर्दिष्ट किसी करार की शर्ते जारी रखना या उनमें परिवर्तन जो ऐसे राज्य में भारत सरकार द्वारा लगाये जाने योग्य किसी कर या शुल्क के उदग्रहण संग्रहण और वितरण के संबंध में है।
The continuance or variation of the conditions of any agreement for the time being specified in Part III of the First Schedule between the Union and a State with respect to the levy, collection and distribution of any tax or duty leviable by the Government of India in such State.
4. वित्त के हित में राष्ट्रपति द्वारा आयोग को भेजा गया कोई अन्य मामला अनुच्छेद 243 में प्रत्येक 5 वर्ष में एक राज्य वित्त आयोग की स्थापना का प्रावधान है
Any other matter referred to the Commission by the President in the interest of finance Article 243 provides for the establishment of a State Finance Commission every 5 years
5. वित्त आयोग के सदस्यों और अध्यक्ष की योग्यता का निर्धारण संसद द्वारा किया जाता है।
The qualifications of the members and chairman of the Finance Commission are determined by the Parliament.

Presently Arvind Panagariya is the Chairman, Ajay Narayan Jha, Anne George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Somya Kanti Ghosh are members. Arvind Panagariya is the former Chief Economist of ACI Development Bank.
